I still remember those days when I used to hold my Lord Shiva's locket, whenever he went out to bat. I saw those teeming millions who cheered at his every run. Those teeming millions who went absolutely numb when he was dismissed. It seemed they seek ed salvation in his triumphs and could not accept his failure, because for them their God could not fail. I for one,was in that crowd.
Slowly age begin to catch up with this Super human. He lost some his sharpness, but with his super human abilities he on more than one occasions turned back the clock. Those knocks against the Aussies in Australia, that gaveIndia her only ODI series victory is just an example.
True he had his own follies. Self styled cricket pundits or people who had never touched a bat (I say this because I have not seen any Test cricketer, save for the Chapels, questioning his ability)will always point at the fact that he has felled India on more than one occasion. He is a choker in the finals. He cannot finish a match. They will never think India never had a genuine fast bowler. One most of the occasions which he is accused of felling his team,he never had the support which any other batsman,of any other team would have got.
This man who single handedly brought down the mighty Australians to their feet;20 years of non stop cricket, obliged to carry the burden of one billion dreams and aspirations, not even getting a space for personal bereavement..what can we more expect from this man.
Here I quote my dear friend Souvik basu's line:'I have not seen Buddha,Nanak,Mohammed,Jesus,Krishna, but I have seen Sachin!'
Just one word for all the inspirations that you have given me: 'THANK YOU!'

Those who question the greatness of this champion cricketer, live in a world of denial. Many people often bring about comparisons with Ricky Ponting, often forget that throughout Ponting's illustrious career he had 10 other talented Australian cricketers giving him constant support. If early in his career Sachin had not finished off games on his own,he has shown that quality over the last few years.India's maiden Tri-Series triumph in Australia had the champion showing his class in both the finals,or even in the test match against England in the December of 2008,where India chased down a mammoth 387,Sachin was the guiding light. It somehow erased the disappointment of India losing at the same venue against Pakistan, where Sachin's 135 on a crumbling pitch took us so close to victory.Had Sachin not scored the 175 against the Aussies at Hyderabad, nobody would have believed that a target of 351 could be achieved. His innings only made it possible for people to believe that the target was achievable.Again to prove that others are real mortals,he will perhaps be instrumental in guiding India to a victory in 2011 World Cup.
Very nicely written. There is something more to Sachin that one cannot just express in words. As a cricketer, his abilities are unquestionable and only people with questionable cricketing abilities question it.
Sachin continues to be an inspiration for people across the world. Look forward to more years of entertainment and happiness!
very well written to reflect how sachin inspired the generations that watched him bat. He gave self-belief to indians to excel on the world stage :)
Absolutely loved it.. Each n every description of the 'GOD'Sachin is true.. Awesome is the word..
I read the blog not once, not twice but three times and tried to find one word you haven't used to define him......but couldn't find.....you have summed up all our feelings for him so precisely......my heart will shout, cry, cheer for him as long as it beats.....and become nervous whenever he nears a century
